Known Side Effects of Acai Berry

Apr 26

Acai berry as what I have said is relatively safe to take as a health supplement and even as a weight loss supplement. But how about it’s side effects? Well, based on studies and consumer experiences, acai berry may have some side effects to some people like diarrhea, stomach-ache or sometimes even dizziness.

However, this is not unusual because acai berry like any other supplement is plant-based and people really react differently (just like how some of us have allergic reactions in chocolates or eggs).  That is why, it is highly recommended to start acai berry in minimal dosage; that is, one tablet per day.

People who are taking more than the recommended dosage of acai berry (500 to 1000 milligrams per day) are more likely to experience its common side effects. And according to this article, those of us who have allergic reactions to pollen and fruits like berries are at risk of having allergic reactions to acai berry supplements such as itchy watery eyes, rashes or congestion.

In my own experience, I didn’t experience any dizziness or stomach ache when I started taking acai berry several weeks ago. On the other hand, my friend who took acai berry supplement experienced diarrhea for 3 days but her bowel routine went back to normal after that so I guess, the side effect of acai berry may or may not happen and it would be of our own benefit if we will consult the doctor prior taking any supplements especially if we intend to use it for weight loss.
